Gübelin Gem Lab Seal

Since its establishment in 1923, the Gübelin Gem Lab has maintained the highest possible quality standards without compromising its analytical infrastructure, staff education and expertise, internal regulations or processes.

To uphold these standards, the Gübelin family established the Gübelin Gem Lab Seal. This quality hallmark represents a defined set of guidelines that must be fulfilled before the Seal can be included on a gemmological document.

Gübelin Gem Lab Ambassadors

Our industry network, consisting of dozens of experienced professionals from mining, the gemstone trade, jewellery and retail, is a valuable asset. These experts keep us informed about activities at mines and developments in gemstone markets around the world.

Coming from a variety of backgrounds, holding different positions and specialising in their respective fields, they are united by their passion for gemstones. With many of them, we share not only the same passion but also the same values and principles, making them well positioned to act as Ambassadors for the Gübelin Gem Lab.

We have nominated several such individuals to take on the role of Gübelin Gem Lab Ambassadors. They have served the industry for many years and have earned a reputation for competence, honesty and integrity. In this role, they represent our laboratory within their respective industry sectors and regions.

While pursuing their own business activities and remaining professionally independent, they promote the services of our international laboratories in return for a commission. They are entitled to negotiate customised service terms with clients and help facilitate smooth cooperation between clients and the Gübelin Gem Lab.

Pooja Agarwal (Singapore)

Pooja is a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and also holds an IGI Diamond Grading Diploma. As a contributing editor and author for a range of international luxury watch and jewellery publications, her work has appeared in newspapers and magazines including the South China Morning Post, Baselworld Daily News, Singapore Tatler, Haute Time and Robb Report. Her extensive travels to watch and jewellery trade shows across Italy, Switzerland, the Middle East, the United States and Asia keep her informed about the latest lifestyle trends. Her keen eye for design and pursuit of excellence make her an astute trend analyst.

Dr. Lore Kiefert (Germany)

She is a highly experienced laboratory gemmologist and scientific researcher, with a strong background in mineralogy and over 25 years’ experience working in major gemmological laboratories. She held senior managerial roles at SSEF in Switzerland and AGL in New York before joining the Gübelin Gem Lab as Chief Gemmologist, a position from which she retired in September 2020.
Lore has authored and co-authored numerous publications in gemmological and scientific journals, as well as chapters in textbooks such as the Handbook of Raman Spectroscopy. She regularly delivers gemmological lectures at conferences worldwide and serves on the editorial review boards of Gems & Gemology and The Journal of Gemmology.

Raul Sapora (Italy)

Raul is a gemmologist trained by DGemG and GIA. He was introduced to the fascinating world of gemstones by his father, Diego, a reputable goldsmith. Raul’s long international career, spanning the Caribbean, Africa and Europe, has given him extensive experience across a diverse range of areas, including mining, sales, responsible sourcing of gemstones and jewellery, and auditing. He also has a keen interest in the history of gemstones.

Dario Vanegas (Colombia)

Dario is a highly recognised emerald expert in the international gemstone trade and has a deep admiration for emeralds. With 28 years of experience in the field, he has primarily provided sales and marketing support to prominent mine owners and traders of Colombian emeralds. Through his travels around the world, he has gained extensive knowledge of emerald cutting, cleaning and treatment within the industry. ario is Product Manager at Coscuez SA, a company within the Fura Gems Group. He also continues to work with other companies in the sector and provides appraisals of rough and cut gemstones.

Albert Zhang

Mr.Zhang is the founder and co-owner of CGG Jewelry Appraisal Trading Co Ltd. He currently serves as an Ambassador for the Gübelin Academy and for the House of Garrard, Britain’s first Crown Jeweller, in China. He has devoted himself to promoting luxury jewellery and lifestyles in mainland China.

Jenny Jing

Ms. Jing is the Executive Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Bazaar Jewelry magazine. She is also a visiting professor at Tongji University’s College of Design and Innovation.
Through her longstanding commitment to promoting fashion and jewellery culture, Ms. Jing has become a highly influential figure in both fields.

Guo Ying

Professor Guo is Dean of the School of Gemmology at the China University of Geosciences in Beijing. His research focuses on gemmology, mineralogy and traditional Chinese jade culture.

He frequently shares his extensive knowledge in these fields through interviews with major media organisations, including CCTV, CNR and BTV.

Fan Bingbing

Ms. Fan requires no introduction as a renowned actress, model and television producer in China. She has received numerous prestigious honours, including awards from the Tokyo International Film Festival, San Sebastián International Film Festival, Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards, and Golden Rooster Awards.

Her striking appearances on the red carpet at film premieres and fashion shows have established Ms. Fan as a global fashion icon.
