Gemmological Profile
Besides its regular Gemmological Reports, the Gübelin Gem Lab offers the Gemmological Profile, a more comprehensive document that provides background information on the gemstone type, its history, identity, authenticity and origin, as well as individual images of its inclusions.
The Gemmological Profile also contains analytical details and provides insight into the microscopic, chemical and spectroscopic data gathered by the experts at the Gübelin Gem Lab on that specific gemstone. This innovative product is designed primarily for the end consumer.
Gemmological Profile
The Gübelin Gem Lab is privileged to be entrusted with unique and exceptional gemstones. For many gemstones submitted for testing, the Gübelin Gem Lab offers an additional product, the Gemmological Profile, which complements the regular Gemmological Report.
Providing a wealth of context and insight into the gemstone described in the laboratory report, the Gemmological Profile is designed primarily for retailers and end consumers. It provides background information on the gemstone type, its history, identity, authenticity and origin, as well as individual images of its inclusions. It also contains information about the geological setting and age of the deposit in which the gemstone formed, together with analytical details and insight into the microscopic, chemical and spectroscopic data gathered by the experts at the Gübelin Gem Lab for that specific gemstone.
Every gemstone is unique, and so is its Gemmological Profile. The booklet can be requested directly by the client submitting the gemstone to our laboratory for testing. In most cases, it can also be ordered at a later stage by a subsequent owner without the need to resubmit the gemstone to the laboratory.
Gemmological Profile Plus
The Gemmological Profile Plus is a more prestigious and luxurious version of the standard Gemmological Profile. Only exceptional gemstones qualify for a Gemmological Profile Plus by the Gübelin Gem Lab. The book features refined craftsmanship, including a high-quality leather cover on which details of the gemstone are printed and embossed.
An elegant slipcase provides a stylish presentation and additional protection. Numerous high-resolution photographs and photomicrographs of the gemstone and its internal features emphasise its beauty and individuality. Combining science with artistic documentation, the Gemmological Profile Plus is a premium presentation for an outstanding gemstone.
The Gemmological Profile Plus is best requested when the gemstone is submitted for testing to a Gübelin Gem Lab. It may also be ordered at a later stage by a subsequent owner, provided that the gemstone is resubmitted to one of our laboratories for further documentation.

The price of a Gemmological Profile is CHF 1,000 when ordered together with a Gemmological Report or CHF 1,200 when ordered separately. The price of a Gemmological Profile Plus is CHF 3600.
